NC ASHRM President’s Message 2023
Hello NC ASHRM Members,
I am both honored and excited to have the opportunity to serve as your 2023 NC ASHRM Chapter President. I look forward to working with our members and Board of Directors.
I would like to extend a special thank you to Katrina Jackson, the 2022 President for her superb leadership over the past year, through challenges such as COVID surges and a new normal, to name a few. Katrina began serving as President-elect at the beginning of 2020. Because of the pandemic, Katrina’s term was extended as President-Elect for two years until she was able to fulfill her role as President. Thank you, Katrina, for your dedication, hard work, and mentorship.
On behalf of the NC ASHRM Chapter, I would like to recognize our outgoing Board members: Sheila Elliott, Nan Holland, and Diane Hoeffer. Each of these members has served the Chapter for several years in in a variety of roles and capacities. Thank you for your contributions in making NC ASHRM a stronger organization. I would also like to welcome our new Board members: Sonya Conner, Colleen Shea, and Jen Bailey. On behalf of the NC ASHRM Board, we look forward to working with you.
Throughout 2022, several members were recognized for outstanding achievements and attainment of professional designations. Congratulations to all of you.
Over the past year, with the pandemic beginning to wind down, we have been able to hold in-person conferences. Our members were excited to finally attend events in person, and to network with other risk professionals after a two-year hiatus. As part of our commitment to provide risk management education for members, we offered 23 education credit hours in 2022. We had wonderful presentations from many of our members as well as from experts outside of NC ASHRM. I would like to thank all members who are involved in activities that support our mission. This includes conference planners, attendees, speakers, volunteers, and sponsors, as well as our board and committee members. Your dedication and involvement are essential to the success of our chapter. This is truly a team effort.
I would also like to thank our long-standing and new NC ASHRM sponsors. We appreciate their commitment to our mission and efforts to provide quality education to Healthcare Risk Management professionals. Their generosity and participation help make our educational conferences, webinars, and events possible.
We look forward to continuing our in-person conferences in 2023. The Spring Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn Resort Lumina, Wrightsville Beach on April 26-28, 2023, and the Fall Conference at the DoubleTree Hotel Biltmore, Asheville on November 8-10, 2023. Registration information will be posted on the website.
NC ASHRM continues to be a financially strong and vibrant organization, and extremely fortunate to have a very engaged membership. At the close of 2022, the chapter membership stood at 213 members, which included 50 new members. To that end, we must continue to work together to find ways to attract new members. As your President, I encourage all NC ASHRM members to assume the role of “NC ASHRM ambassador,” taking up the banner to promote our organization and continue to increase membership.
I look forward to working with you, seeing you at our upcoming 2023 conferences and connecting with you virtually on our webinars.
Thank you,
Tracey Wilson, BSN, RN, CPHRM, CCM
President, NC ASHRM
