The North Carolina Association of Healthcare Risk Managers (NC ASHRM) is a professional organization for Healthcare Risk Managers. We are affiliated with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management. Attention North Carolina ASHRM members!
Message from the President Elect
February 8, 2021
Dear NC ASHRM Colleagues,
On behalf of the Board, thank you for your continued support and participation in our chapter. In follow up to our email communication in December, this is a reminder that dues must be paid by 02/28/21 to maintain access to the website and other benefits of our chapter.
While we have canceled the Spring Meeting, it is our hope that we will be able to come together for our Fall conference in Asheville. In the interim, it is our goal to offer complimentary webinars throughout the year. We value your continued support, and with the impediments created by the pandemic it is still our mission to provide quality educational programming to support your professional development and to support healthcare risk management in North Carolina. It is also our goal that these complimentary webinars provide value for your continued membership in our organization.
Thank you again to both our membership and sponsors for you continued support of NC ASHRM.
Sheila Elliott, NC ASHRM President

March Complimentary Webinar
NC ASHRM Colleague,
As Spring approaches and we all continue to face travel and other restrictions related to Covid-19, the NC ASHRM Board continues to coordinate complimentary webinars, with the support of our generous sponsors and members. If you are provided with the opportunity to communicate with any of our sponsors or webinar providers, please thank them for their support. A copy of our sponsor list can be found here: NC ASHRM sponsors2020.
Our next complimentary webinar offering will be March 09, 2021. Our presenters, Norman F. Klick, Jr. and Dennis Dorsey, are both attorneys practicing at Walker Allen Law’s Greensboro, NC office. Both Norman and Dennis have a long history in the defense of healthcare entities and providers in matters of medical malpractice, licensing board issues, as well as providing risk management consultation. Many of you will know Dennis as an active member of our chapter. For your convenience, Norman & Dennis’ biographies and contact information can be found here: Klick_Bio_Walker Allen_NC ASHRM Presentation Dorsey_Bio_Walker Allen_NC ASHRM Presentation
Title of Event: The Other Person in the Room
Description: All too often situations arise in patient care that pit the physician versus the patient in a “he-said/she-said” scenario. This is undoubtedly troubling for all parties, especially the physician, the physician’s risk managers, liability carrier and state licensing board. This presentation focuses on the benefits of chaperones and the pitfalls of unintended chaperones.
Date: March 09, 2021 11:45AM-12:45 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

This meeting has been approved for a total of 1.0 contact hours of Continuing Education Credit toward fulfillment of the requirements of ASHRM designations of FASHRM (Fellow) and DFASHRM (Distinguished Fellow) and towards CPHRM renewal. We hope you will be able to join us.
