Dear Member:
I want to personally thank you for your membership in the North
Carolina Chapter of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management
(ASHRM). Our chapter is a charter member of National ASHRM. While
our organization began with a small number of individuals, we have
continued to grow over the years to our current membership of 277.
This total includes 16 new members in 2009. Welcome new members!
Like ASHRM, we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary this fall,
and we look forward to all of you joining us at the Grove Park
Inn for a festive celebration.
Our members are the strength of our organization. We strive to
offer state-of-the-art speakers and topics at our meetings each
year so that you can keep abreast of risk management trends and
challenges. We encourage our speakers to provide you with take-away
tools that you can use in your everyday workplace. We ask you to
evaluate each conference and offer suggestions for topics that
are important to you. We carefully review each evaluation to improve
our educational content and to make available the answers you are
seeking.
We offer two educational conferences each year. Not only do we
offer you exposure to topical issues, but we also offer CPHRM credits.
At some conferences, we offer a CPHRM preparatory course. We endeavor
to provide CLE credits as well. But education is not the only important
aspect of our conferences. We provide networking opportunities
with your contemporaries across the state. Our membership is comprised
of various organizations that all work within the healthcare industry,
including healthcare facilities, insurance and legal professionals.
Please seek out these fellow members and use their expertise when
facing a challenge or just to learn something new.
For the past year or so, NC ASHRM has “gone green”.
We have steadily removed as much paper handling as possible. It
becomes that much more important for you to log on to our website:
www.nc-ashrm.org . There
is a wealth of information available to you about your Chapter.
You can see job postings, professional accomplishments of your
peers and you can even register for meetings and vote for your
fellow members who are seeking greater participation in our organization.
Meeting information, speaker presentations and a host of other
information is made available on the web. We encourage you to periodically
check the website. We ask you to let us know how we can improve
it and/or what additional information you would like to access
on the web.
I want to invite you to attend our 2010 educational meetings.
Please become an active participant in your chapter so that we
can reach even greater heights than we have in the last 30 years.
Please take time to welcome new members, as together, we create
the future for NC ASHRM.
Sincerely,
Becky Cox
