in Healthcare Risk Management.
- Roy (Chip) Goen, Vice President
of Sales, Mag Mutual Insurance Agency, LLC, has received
the designation of RPLU.
- John West, Risk Consultant, Global
Loss Prevention, a Chartis Company, was awarded the first
of two Presidential Citation Awards by the American Society
for HealthCare Risk Management at the 2011 annual conference.
John was recognized for authoring “Case Law Update” for
more than half of ASHRM’s existence.
- Judith R. Sands,
presented the session entitled, “Leading
Change and Innovation: A Step By Step Approach” at
the American Society for HealthCare Risk Management
2011 annual conference.
- Kathy McLawhorn, Liberty Healthcare,
has been promoted to Compliance Officer.

- Wanda Locklear, of Scotland Memorial Hospital, was promoted
to Risk Coordinator of Insurance & Litigation.
- Jason Newton with Yates, McLamb and Weyher,
LLP, was selected as a one of the Super Lawyer’s-Rising
Stars (Best NC attorneys under 40) for the third year in
a row; Jason was selected by his peers who practice in the
same area of law.
- Pat Boike, Risk Manager, Carolinas Healthcare System
has received the Certified Professional in Healthcare
Risk Management.
- Tessie Dodrill, Risk Analyst, Carolinas Healthcare System
has received the Certified Professional in Healthcare
Risk Management.
- Cindy Bobay, Risk Manager, Carolinas Healthcare System
has received her Masters of Science in Nursing with
concentration in management and leadership from Walden University.
- Virginia Locklear, Clinical Risk Specialist, Southeastern
Regional Medical Center, has received her Masters
in Public Health- Hospital Administration from the University
of North Carolina at Pembroke.

was selected as a member of the American
Board of Advocates.
- Dan McLamb, Mike Hurley and Barry
Cobb with Yates, McLamb

selected for inclusion in the North Carolina Super Lawyers
magazine put out by La and Politics –
Dan McLamb received the most points among all lawyers listed.
- Ryan Shuirman with Yates, McLamb and Weyher was selected
as one of the State’s 2008
Legal Elite in the “Young Guns”.
- Bonnie Weyher with Harris, Creech, Ward
and Blackerby was listed in Best Lawyers of
America 2008 publication.
- Thomas E. Harris, C. David Creech and Bonnie J.
Refinski-Knight with Harris,
Creech, Ward and Blackerby were selected as North Carolina
Super Lawyers.
- Harold “Chip” D. Holmes, Jr.
with Parker Poe was named to Business North Carolina
magazine’s “Legal Elite” for 2008 as a
Young Gun. Twenty One other Parker Poe attorneys
were also among “Legal Elite”.

and W. Greg Merritt with
Harris, Creech, Ward and Blackerby were included in Business
NC Legal Elite 2008.
- Sam Southern with Smith Moore was reselected
by his peers for listing in Best Lawyers in
America 2008 and North Carolina Super Lawyers 2008 in the
field of Health Care Law.
